CS Department Recognizes Outstanding Achievements

ACM PlaqueThe Computer Science Department of the University of Virginia ispleased to announce the recognition of several of its outstandingstudents. JamesPatten and Sarah Schwarm received "Honorable Mention" in the ComputerResearch Association Outstanding Undergraduate Competition. Wehad two teams compete in the "1998 Association for Computing MachineryMid-Atlantic Regional Programming Contest." Team One, Richard Eppink,Jeff King, and PatrickReynolds, took second place out of 139 teams. The second team, ScottGorman, T. J. Highley, and Chris Rude, finished in sixth place. Team One will advance to the world-wide contest, "ACMInternational Collegiate Programming Contest," which will be held in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in April 1999.
